The struggle is real, the answer is in Christ

Luke 6:41-42 (AMP) Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice or consider the log that is in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, allow me to take out the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite (play actor, pretender), first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother’s eye.
I have to admit that I have a huge issue with caring too much. I worry about whether I have offended, am including everyone, or even if I am personally accepted by others. I want to plan events for my church to do together, but my focus goes to who will not want to do that, or who would not want to stick around for that. Then I scrap the event due to my focus of who will not participate, instead of the ones who will. I want everyone to join in. Really what I have done is taken in the wrong focus.
Ephesians 4:3 (AMP) Make every effort to keep the oneness of the Spirit in the bond of peace [each individual working together to make the whole successful].
We are suppose to be a body that is for each other. We are better together. In my efforts to do something together with the body, I have lost focus. I started to focus on the individuals, instead of the whole. In a way it is good to want be involved with people, but then I start to feel rejected when I did not feel accepted. When my focus turned to that, I have to remember to realign with my identity in Christ. What I did was stepped out of trust with the Father. When I stay close to Him, then my mind will stay on track, I remember who the body of Christ is for.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (AMP) Love endures with patience and serenity, love is kind and thoughtful, and is not jealous or envious; love does not brag and is not proud or arrogant. It is not rude; it is not self-seeking, it is not provoked [nor overly sensitive and easily angered]; it does not take into account a wrong endured. It does not rejoice at injustice, but rejoices with the truth [when right and truth prevail]. Love bears all things [regardless of what comes], believes all things [looking for the best in each one], hopes all things [remaining steadfast during difficult times], endures all things [without weakening].
How can I love if I am walking in hurt, in disappointments or seeking approval (or even thinking I do not have approval)? These are the logs in my own eye that I need to surrender. In order to move past this handicap of growth, I first have to identify what is at the root. Then, I hand it over to the only One who can do the work within. The One who has rooted and grounded me in His Love (Ephesians 3:17). To lose compassion is not the answer. To lose love for the body is not the answer. To avoid people is not the answer. To stop caring about people is not the answer. The answer is to remove the focus off of how it makes ‘me’ feel. I have to ask the question ‘is it about me or is it for Him?’ I am not alone with this struggle. The Apostle Paul let’s us know about it in his writings. We see some of it at the end of 2 Corinthians 12, as he is struggling with whether he is going to be received and/or what he is going to think of them. He even let some of those thoughts intrude and stop him from going, as the Spirit led him. Can God restore even those moments? I believe, with a repentant heart, He can.
My prayer for 2024: Increase Your love in me, so that it is all that flows out of me. I no longer want to live in a reactionary manner. I want to live free in love.
Jehovah Rapha, Father, Creator, You are the One we Praise. You are Holy and full of Majesty. We honor You and You alone. Thank You for sending Your Son to be our Redeemer. Thank You for sending Love down to be our Savior. Thank You for the Holy Spirit that dwells in us. Thank You for the revelation knowledge of Your Word, that is ever living and growing within us. Jehovah Rapha, the God who heals. You are the God who wanted Your creation restored, not through our works, but by our surrender to Your Son. It is through Christ that we are made whole. We repent for the times that we chose not to see the areas of our lives that we had not surrendered. It has become like a log, blinding us to the need for more of Your glory in our lives. We are rooted and grounded in the love of Your Son, in Christ. Let us not take that for granted. We choose to forgive when we have felt wronged or judged. Increase Your love in us, so that it is all that flows our of us. We do not like how it feels to live in a reactionary way. We do not like living thinking we have to protect ourselves from being hurt. That is not truly living. We recognize that we have fenced ourselves in and created a bondage that only You can free us from. We surrender to You. We choose freedom today. We choose love today. We choose forgiveness today. We choose hope today. We choose joy today. In Jesus Name, Amen.
